Allegro Smart: how it works and how it affects a seller's margin

Allegro Smart: how the free-delivery programme works and how it affects your margin.

Author: Borys Terlecki · marketplace sales and implementations at Commercraft · updated: September 2026

In short

Allegro Smart! is a paid subscription on the buyer side: free delivery and free returns, and since 2 March 2026 one threshold of PLN 49.90 in the basket with a single seller.

Delivery costs the buyer 0 PLN, but the seller pays a contribution to every parcel that depends on the carrier and the order value.

According to Allegro data, offers marked Smart! are bought 2.5 times more often, so the contribution usually pays back through conversion and a basket above the threshold.

Allegro is Poland’s dominant marketplace, the local equivalent of Amazon. If you sell on Allegro, Smart! sets the backdrop for everything you list. A huge share of buyers have the subscription and filter offers to see only those with free delivery. Put simply: an offer without Smart! often doesn’t lose on price. It just doesn’t appear in the buyer’s results. That is why it is worth understanding exactly how this programme works on your side, who really pays and for what, and how to set up an offer so that Smart! works for your margin.

Smart! through the buyer's eyes: what they expect

Let’s start with the buyer’s perspective, because it is what shapes their purchase decisions. Allegro Smart! is a paid subscription: in return for a fixed fee, the buyer gets free delivery and free returns once they exceed a purchase-value threshold with a single seller, plus loyalty benefits, Smart! Coins, challenges and bonuses. Currently, the subscription costs 59.90 PLN in the annual variant or 14.99 PLN monthly. During campaigns like Smart! Weeks the price can be lower, but that is a promotional price which returns to the base level after the campaign.

For you the most important number is: 49.90 PLN. From 2 March 2026, a single, unified free-delivery threshold applies, that is how much a cart with one seller must reach for the buyer to get free delivery both to a locker or point and by courier to an address. The new conditions cover people who activate or renew Smart! after 1 March 2026. Those who have a subscription under the old rules use them until it expires (45 PLN to lockers and points, 65 PLN by courier). In practice this is a simple signpost when building an offer: a product below 49.90 PLN will not give the buyer free delivery, so it pays to think in bundles, adding accessories and gently encouraging ‘add to free shipping’. This is often an easier way to raise cart value than fighting on price.

It is also worth knowing that within Smart! the return is free for the buyer, and that lowers one of the biggest purchase barriers in online selling. Importantly, the cost of the return shipment in Smart! is covered by Allegro, so the return does not burden your account either.

What Smart! means for you as a seller

This is the area with the most misunderstandings. First, for your offer to give the buyer free delivery at all, it must meet several conditions:

  • provide the required set of delivery methods, to points and lockers and to an address,
  • maintain a sales quality level of at least Neutral,
  • have return conditions configured with a return address in Poland.

The simplest route runs through Allegro Delivery, which covers some of these requirements automatically, and offers with delivery to Allegro One Box get the Smart! label right away.

Second, and this is the crux, for the buyer delivery costs 0 PLN, but the carrier still charges a fee. This is how it works: Allegro funds part of that fee, and the seller adds the rest. The key word is ‘part’: you do not pay the full, market rate, you use rates negotiated by Allegro with carriers, ones a single seller would never negotiate on their own. It is a real benefit that is easy to overlook when looking only at the ‘surcharge’ column.

What does this surcharge depend on? Primarily on the order value (settled by thresholds), and, for couriers, additionally on weight, and the higher of the two: actual (by weight) or volumetric (calculated from the parcel’s dimensions using the carrier’s formula). Above 10 kg, overweight surcharges are added. The rule is intuitive: the smaller and cheaper the shipment, the larger the part of the cost Allegro takes on. You can always see the specific, current rates in the sales panel, which is why it is so important to give the true dimensions and weight in your offer. An understated box can backfire with an unexpected volumetric surcharge.

In practice

And one more thing, because it is a common myth: within Smart! you do not negotiate rates with couriers. You use a ready price list and Allegro's co-financing. Our work is not 'phoning around couriers' but choosing delivery methods and arranging the offer so that the Smart! model is profitable for you.

Allegro One: the logistics that round off delivery

A whole Allegro One logistics ecosystem has grown around Smart!, and it is worth knowing, because it increasingly decides the convenience of selling. Its strongest element is One Fulfillment by Allegro, a service in which you hand your products over to the Allegro Warehouse, and Allegro takes care of packing, shipping, returns and complaints. From January 2026 the service is made available directly on your existing account, without setting up a separate one, and the choice of ‘do I fulfil it myself or entrust it to Allegro’ appears already when creating an offer. Full rollout for all sellers is due to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2026, and for new users Allegro has prepared a welcome programme with fee waivers and a package of highlights. Products in One Fulfillment automatically qualify for Smart!, a convenient shortcut to the label others have to earn manually.

The second leg is the pickup network. Allegro One Box is more than 11,000 lockers in Poland, and the whole of Allegro Delivery is more than 40,000 lockers and almost 35,000 pickup points, One Box, One Punkt, but also DHL, DPD Pickup, Żabka or ORLEN Paczka, plus deliveries to an address. In this model, when you choose ‘Courier’, it is Allegro that proposes the carrier. As a seller you do not manually indicate a specific company for a single parcel. Allegro does not reveal the details of the selection algorithm, so we do not describe them as a certainty either, but in practice it means fewer decisions on your side and a predictable process.

How Smart! translates into sales

11,000+

The strongest argument is measurable: according to Allegro’s data, offers with the Smart! label sell 2.5 times as often. This follows directly from buyer behaviour: because most filter results by ‘Smart!’, an offer without the label falls outside their view, regardless of how good the price is. Smart! therefore improves your eligibility for that filter and your visibility. The label itself does not ‘guarantee’ the recommended position. Your whole offer works toward that.

And the margin? Here perspective is key. You bear a surcharge, not the full delivery cost, and higher conversion plus a cart above the 49.90 PLN threshold usually return that surcharge with interest. Add to that free returns on your side, and it turns out that Smart! is more often an asset than a burden. There is one condition: you have to set it up consciously.

Who Smart! pays off for

Smart! is more often an asset than a burden, provided you set it up consciously. It pays off most when:

Buyers in your category filter results by Smart!, so an offer without the label drops out of their view, regardless of the price.

Your cart reaches the 49.90 PLN threshold with a single product or with a bundle of accessories.

Your parcels are small and cheap, so Allegro takes on a larger part of the delivery cost.

Your products can go to the Allegro Warehouse in One Fulfillment, which qualifies them for Smart! automatically.

Smart! on your offers, step by step

1

Sales quality

Keep a sales quality level of at least Neutral.

2

Delivery methods

Add the required delivery methods (to points/lockers and to an address), most easily through Allegro Delivery.

3

Returns

Configure return conditions with a return address in Poland.

4

Allegro One Box

Consider delivery to Allegro One Box for an automatic Smart! label and better visibility.

5

Dimensions and weight

Give true dimensions and weight to avoid volumetric surcharges above 10 kg.

6

Cart value

Build a cart above 49.90 PLN, with bundles and the suggestion 'add to free delivery'.

What to avoid: do not confuse the buyer’s cost (0 PLN) with the seller’s surcharge. They are two different price lists.
